Demitting From Another Jurisdiction

In order to affiliate with a sister jurisdiction, a brother should:

1. Be in good standing with his lodge and Grand Lodge .

2. Apply for admission to the lodge with which he desires to affiliate and be accepted.

3. Request his demit from his home lodge, or he may have the lodge to which he desires

to demit request it for him.

4. If the brother receives no answer from his home lodge, he should then contact his

Grand Lodge. Receiving no answer from his Grand Lodge, a copy of all

correspondence and his last dues card should be sent to the Grand Secretary in the

jurisdiction in which he wishes to demit.

5. The Grand Secretary will attempt to contact the Grand Lodge in question. If the

Grand Secretary does not receive an answer within thirty-days, he will send a second

letter with the following notation affixed "If we have not heard from you within

thirty-days, we will assume that you have given us permission to accept

brother_____________________as one of our members." This letter will be sent

with a return receipt requested.

6. If no answer is received from the second letter sent by the Grand Secretary, the

Grand Master may issue what is termed a "Letter in Lieu of Demit."
